Remedy's revenue surges 226% as Control Resonant tops 1 million sales

Remedy's Q3 2026 revenue reached €39.6 million. That is up 226% from €12.2 million a year earlier. Operating profit reached €0.6 million. The prior-year quarter recorded a €16.4 million operating loss. Control Resonant, Remedy's first self-published game, sold over one million units in three weeks. Self-publishing lifts revenue but adds royalty and platform costs a publisher once absorbed. "Resonant gives us a solid foundation for growth." - Jean-Charles Gaudechon, CEO, Remedy Entertainment

Self-publishing reshapes revenue and cost structure
Game sales and royalties reached €35 million.
The figure stood at €6 million a year earlier.
Development fees totaled €4.3 million.
These covered the Max Payne remakes and Resonant's final Annapurna completion fee.
Remedy now directly incurs royalty expenses and platform fees.
A publisher previously absorbed those costs.
Royalty expenses include Annapurna's share of Resonant revenue.
Those expenses will fall once initial investments recoup.

Marketing spend and depreciation drive margin swing
Q3 EBITDA reached €6.8 million.
Operating profit was €0.6 million after depreciation.
Marketing spend peaked around the September 24 launch, Remedy's largest campaign to date.
The campaign included PlayStation, NVIDIA and creator partnerships.
It also opened new pushes in Asia and Latin America.
Remedy began depreciating Resonant's capitalized development costs at launch.
Alan Wake 2's capitalized development costs are now fully depreciated, closing that investment cycle.
"Control Resonant represents a defining milestone for the company" - Jean-Charles Gaudechon, CEO, Remedy Entertainment

US demand dominates while growth markets gain share
Nearly 50% of PC and console units sold in the United States.
Chinese-speaking regions and the UK followed on PC.
The UK, Canada and Brazil followed on console.
Brazil's console players are a growing market for Remedy.
Gaudechon links that trend to growth-market traction since preorders opened.

Recoupment timeline and franchise economics
Nine-month revenue reached €62.9 million.
That is up 48.2% year on year, a softer pace than Q3.
Outstanding wishlists for Resonant total 2.4 million.
That demand pool sits ahead of royalty costs easing.
Nearly half of Resonant's players are new to the Control franchise.
Sales of the 2019 Control exceeded the comparison period and both prior 2026 quarters.
Remedy disclosed no back-catalogue sales figures.
"We will invest with discipline, prioritising actions with a clear return" - Jean-Charles Gaudechon, CEO, Remedy Entertainment
What this means
For Investors & VC: Add co-financier recoupment thresholds to diligence on self-publishing AA studios.
For UA & Marketing: Split premium-launch creator budgets by platform, since secondary markets differ between PC and console.
For Service Vendors: Pitch localization and regional PR to mid-size studios moving from publisher deals to self-publishing.
