Wardogs CEO claims EA DICE and Respawn are developing Star Wars Battlefront 3

Bulkhead Games CEO Joe Brammer claims EA DICE and Respawn are building Star Wars Battlefront 3. An earlier Electronic Gaming Monthly rumour says Lucasfilm is still choosing a developer. That rumour names EA DICE and Bungie as the candidates. Neither EA nor Lucasfilm has confirmed a new Battlefront game. The two reports conflict on whether a studio is already attached.

The two rumours describe different development stages
Electronic Gaming Monthly's Quartermann column says Lucasfilm has been searching for a Battlefront developer.
"The Qman hears that if the Force is not entrusted to [EA] Dice, it could land at none other than Halo, Destiny, and Marathon developer Bungie" - Quartermann column, Electronic Gaming Monthly
GiantBomb's Jeff Grubb says the game does not appear to be in active development.
Grubb adds that studio selection talks are reportedly under way.
Brammer's claim implies that work has already started at two EA studios.

Disney now controls the licence
EA's exclusive Star Wars licensing deal ended in 2023.
Lucasfilm therefore has the option to look beyond EA for Battlefront.
Bungie appearing in the report signals that the licence is open to other publishers' studios.
No terms for any new Battlefront licence have been reported.

EA studio capacity is the open constraint
EA DICE is currently supporting Battlefield 6.
Respawn has other projects in its pipeline.
"Not sure what that means for Battlefield" - Joe Brammer, CEO, Bulkhead Games
Brammer did not disclose the source of his claim.
What this means
For Publishers & Developers: Pitch Lucasfilm a Star Wars multiplayer shooter proposal while studio selection stays unsettled.
For Investors & VC: Exclude Star Wars shooter revenue from EA forward models until a signed licence surfaces.
For Service Vendors: Pitch large-scale shooter co-dev capacity to EA's Stockholm and Los Angeles studio leads before any greenlight.
